Eastside Road, December 18, 2011—A LONG DRIVE today, and the sort of dining, to give it too fancy a name, that seems to go with that. Breakfast at Porto in Glendale: croissant, caffelatte. Bread and cheese at a rest stop on Highway 5, with a little bottle of spicy V-8. A cup of delicious ice cream at Ici in Berkeley: Candied blood orange; Panforte.
Once home, a salad of arugula, dressed simply with lemon juice, salt, and a delicious new olive oil from Les Baux (thank you, Michael); and a fried egg sandwich.
