Eastside Road, May 4, 2012—
OUT TO THE COAST with a couple of old friends this evening, there to try a place we've heard about for years — a New Orleansish place, full bar, big pleasant dining room, old vaguely Victorian farmhouse by the side of the road. A tavern, in fact; it even has rooms upstairs.We had oysters on the half shell (even though we're four days out of months with "R's"), devilled eggs, green salads, and lamb shanks served with grilled asparagus and creamy grits. Desserts: beignets; crème brulée. The service was professional and friendly, and the cooking quite good. I'll be back one of these days.
